It is a fact universally acknowledged that there are far fewer Mansfield Park -inspired fiction as compared to Pride and Prejudice stories in the publishing world. Thus it is quite surprising that Meryton Press announced that they are debuting the release of Maria Bertram's Daughter from a new author. As the title suggest, it is a Mansfield Park sequel that follows the childhood of the illegitimate daughter born to the divorced Mrs Rushworth. It looks like the Austenesque publishing industry is back in full swing after a relatively quiet few months (at least to me). This is evident with the highly anticipated arrival of several Pride and Prejudice based titles this month.
