Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ In anticipation of the much awaited film release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey next month, UK publishers HarperCollins and US-based Houghton Mifflin Harcourt have issued several movie tie-in books such as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey — Visual Companion written by Jude Fisher. Jude is the author of all three Visual Companion for each of The Lord of the Rings movies so I am fairly certain that this book will appeal to me for I have yet to read J. R. R. Tolkien's children book. Cleverly divided into smaller chapters, the Visual Companion takes us on a journey to discover and learn about the inhabitants of Middle-earth. It begins with a foreword by Martin Freeman who plays the eponymous protagonist in the film. Martin mentioned how he is in awe of the details on the production sets and props used in the movie with a dash of humuor. The main characters and locations are briefly described with the introduction of hobbits, Bilbo Baggins and Hobbit...
