Back in October 2011, Lindsay Jayne Ashford's debut novel published in the UK as The Mysterious Death of Miss Austen generated a buzz in the Internet with a new theory speculating on how one of the greatest English novelist could have died. Her mysterious final illness has become a subject of enduring literary fascination among Janeite community so much so that scientists and historians have come up with a number of possibilities including Addison's disease, Hodgkin's lymphoma, bovine tuberculosis and Brill-Zinsser disease. As the actual cause of death could not be scientifically determined, could it be that she died from arsenic poisoning? If so, who is responsible and what other secrets are hidden from us?
