Death of a Dandy Giveaways for March-April 2022

Janeites who love reading Austenesque fiction would have heard of author Riana Everly. If you are not familiar with her works, she has published four standalone Pride and Prejudice novels (Teaching Eliza, The Assistant, Through a Different Lens and The Bennet Affair), two Shakespearean mash-up titles (Much Ado in Meryton and A Midwinter Night's Dream), two short stories in the Seasonal Jane Austen Diversions series (Northanger Angst and fixing Emma) and the Miss Mary Investigates series. The mystery series consists of four books to date beginning with The Mystery of the Missing Heiress, the prequel novella that introduces private investigator Alexander Lyons. With the assistance of Mary Bennet, their adventures are recorded in Death of a Clergyman, Death in Highbury and the latest release Death of a Dandy.

After travelling to Surrey in the previous novel, the pair next visits Mansfield Park which is the home of Sir Thomas Bertram and his family. They are asked to find the whereabouts of Tom, the eldest son and heir to the grand estate who is missing. But wherever they go, death always comes a-calling. Who is the dandy that the title is referring to? Was he murdered and who would want him dead? Can Mary and Alexander get to the bottom of this baffling case?

These questions and more may be answered in the virtual tour organised by Riana. Be entertained by the various captivating excerpts and thought-provoking guest posts that the author has carefully prepared. You are welcome to stop by at the blogs below. Do take note that the international giveaway for five e-books of Death of a Dandy is already over.

Guest Post Thanks, Lúthien84, for having me as your guest today, on the blog tour for my newest book, The Darcy Legacy . I have often wondered how Elizabeth and Mr Darcy's courtship would have evolved, were it not for that ill-judged and so ungentlemanlike ' She is tolerable, I suppose... ' This is an angle I explored in The Darcy Legacy . What if their acquaintance did not start on the wrong foot? What if Mr Darcy did not hurt Elizabeth's feelings and her pride at the Meryton assembly — and if he did blunder, it was in a way that she co...

Today Amy D'Orazio is delighted to share with loyal readers an exciting vignette from her most recent release. You would surely root for Darcy to win his lady's hand after reading this. Take it away, Amy! This small bit is from the beginning of a Lady's Reputation , just after Darcy has learned the shocking news that Elizabeth Bennet will not marry him and in fact, does not like him very well. However, adding to his sorrow in losing her, he is also guilty for how his gossip has endangered her reputation. He is, in this scene, in London, trying to figure out how he can right the wrongs he has inadvertently made. Vignette Darcy's tailor had done an excellent job of things, fashioning a suit that Darcy thought look...

Then check out the details of the giveaway at the bottom of the post which include the author's books and two Jane Austen-related items. Excerpt Abigail and her father rode with the somber solicitor in a well-sprung post chaise hired for the occasion. They travelled for most of the day, on turnpikes and through toll gates, stopping to change horses and postilion riders at regular intervals, or to take a hurried meal at a coaching inn. Finally, they reached western Berkshire, its rolling hills and woodlands giving way to farms and chalk downs near its border with Wiltshire. They passed through the village of Caldwell, with a fine church, cloth mill and the Black Swan, which Mr. Arbeau pointed out as the nearest inn where they might sleep until they deemed the manor house...

The Meyersons of Meryton: Guest Post, Excerpt & Giveaways

Happy weekend, friends! How has your week been? I hope you will have enough rest and relaxation before you begin the next week. It is with sheer delight that My Love for Jane Austen welcomes fairly newcomer Mirta Ines Trupp to join us today. You may have heard that her recent release titled The Meyersons of Meryton is a different spin on Pride and Prejudice with a Jewish twist. I'll let her tell you more about the book and share some fascinating insights regarding herself. There is also an excerpt and a fabulous giveaway of five e-books to go along with it. Guest Post Thank you, Lúthien84, for your warm welcome. I am delighted to spend some time with you and my fellow Janeites. Unlike our beloved Miss Jane, I was not born in a scenic village in rural England. My family were neither descendant of landed gentry, nor were they Anglican. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and am the granddaughter of Russian Jews who escaped the pogroms, poverty and famine prior to the onse...

A weekend double for loyal readers of the blog! Besides having J. Marie Croft visiting with a guest post for Sun-Kissed: effusions of summer , author Regina Jeffers has stopped by today to tell you about her latest Pride and Prejudice mystery, The Prosecution of Mr. Darcy's Cousin . Be sure to read her research into post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and an excerpt from the novel. On top of that there is also a giveaway to go along with the post. I'll hand it over to Regina now. Guest Post In my latest release, The Prosecution of Mr. Darcy's Cousin: A Pride and Prejudice Mystery , Darcy's cousin Major General Fitzwilliam (the former Colonel Fitzwilliam from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice ) suffers from what we would now call "PTSD". During the Regency there was no such distinction. The most one might consider as a diagnosis for the effects of many years in war was "melancholia". Yet, melancholia was also the diagnosis for the most s...
