Kiss Me Good Night, Major Darcy Giveaways for June-July 2022

Meryton Press has recently recruited Georgina Young-Ellis to join their author ranks. If her name seems quite familiar, it is because she is a former member of Austen Authors and has promoted some of her self-published on the Austenesque online communities. These titles include Elizabeth, Darcy, & Me trilogy ( Elizabeth, Darcy, & Me , A Battle of Wills and A Maiden' s Honor ), Darcy's Awakening , The Light in Mr. Darcy's Eyes , Pemberley Park: The Twelve Days of Christmas , Incandescent and Kiss Me Good Night, Major Darcy which is the latest novel. Fans of Pride and Prejudice stories set during World War II such as Mary Lydon Simonsen's Darcy Goes to War , No Tomorrow by Anne Morris and Anniina Sjöblom's When He Comes Back would be happy to hear that the classic characters from Jane Austen's masterpiece are transported about eighty years back to a time of great upheaval. As the war ravaged much of Europe, the Bennets are not spared either. Th...

Dance the Tide Giveaways for June 2022

If you are looking to read Pride and Prejudice contemporary romances, you can never go wrong with Cat Andrews's stories. Although she only arrived on the Austenesque publishing scene about two years ago with her debut novel titled Sanctuary: Vol. 1 , she already has six books under her belt namely the three-volume Sanctuary series, An Unexpected Harvest and her latest which Dance the Tide . Just like her previous releases, this modern tale does not strictly follow canon. Set against the mesmerising and scenic backdrop of Cape Cod, Will Darcy had come to the famed Massachusettes town with his sister so that she can heal her body, mind and soul from a traumatic experience in Boston. As a resident of the seaside beach, Elizabeth Bennet loves to spend her free time photographing the beautiful surroundings. She was caught snapping photos of the Darcy siblings and wanting to protect Georgiana from harm, he demanded that she erased their photos. She complied but not before forming ...

The Barrister's Bride Giveaways for May 2022

After releasing Schemes of Felicity novella as part of the Skirmish & Scandal series last year, author Suzan Lauder ( Alias Thomas Bennet , Letter From Ramsgate , A Most Handsome Gentleman and The Mist of Her Memory ) is back again with her fifth full-length Pride and Prejudice novel. As depicted on the cover of The Barrister's Bride , the plot features two suitors vying for Elizabeth Bennet's attention and they are none other than the Darcy brothers. Although the premise is quite similar with another variation called The Darcy Brothers , there are significant differences between the two. In this story, George Darcy is the master of Pemberley with Fitzwilliam as his younger brother. Since second sons do not automatically inherit land and wealth from the father, he is obliged to make his way in the world by becoming a barrister in London with assistance from his late uncle and benefactor. The same uncle has even arranged a marriage between him and the daughter of his...

Maria Bertram's Daughter Giveaways for March-April 2022

It is a fact universally acknowledged that there are far fewer Mansfield Park -inspired fiction as compared to Pride and Prejudice stories in the publishing world. Thus it is quite surprising that Meryton Press announced that they are debuting the release of Maria Bertram's Daughter from a new author. As the title suggest, it is a Mansfield Park sequel that follows the childhood of the illegitimate daughter born to the divorced Mrs Rushworth. If you have read Jane Austen's third published oeuvre, you may recall that Maria Bertram had an affair with Henry Crawford while she is still married to Mr James Rushworth near the ending of the novel. The product of the liaison is a young girl named Dorothea Henrietta Rose according to first-time novelist Lucy Knight. Growing up without knowing who her biological parents are, she sets out on a journey of self-discovery and find her place in the world. Along the way, she encounters the Crawford siblings and her maternal grandparents...

An Affectionate Heart Giveaway for April 2022

It looks like the Austenesque publishing industry is back in full swing after a relatively quiet few months (at least to me). This is evident with the highly anticipated arrival of several Pride and Prejudice based titles this month. First up is author Heather Moll who is back with a full-length novel called An Affectionate Heart . This comes on the heels of last year's launch of a Christmas-themed novella, A Hopeful Holiday . Her prior releases include His Choice of a Wife , Two More Days at Netherfield , The Gentleman are Detained and Nine Ladies . Inspired by Lucy Maud Montgomery's The Blue Castle , Heather has penned a twenty-one year old Elizabeth Bennet as one of the two unmarrried daughters, the other is Lydia. Her father has died of heart problem leaving her dependent on the kindness and generosity of her married sisters. While visiting Mary and Mr Collins, now the master of Longbourn, Elizabeth befriends the new residents of a nearby lodge. Mr Darcy and his sis...

Susan: Guest Post

Hi, Austenesque friends. How are you doing? It has been nearly two months since we have a guest on My Love for Jane Austen . Fortunately Alice McVeigh has agreed to share her inspiration for writing her debut Austenesque novel titled Susan which was released last June. This post was supposed to go live early last month before the launch of Harriet , a new spin on a secondary character from Emma . But due to unforseen circumstances, it is postponed until today. So please welcome Alice and show some love and support to the author by commenting on her post. Why I still love Lady Susan — enough to re-create her at sixteen I got bitten by the Jane Austen bug early, though nowhere near as early as many fellow fanatics. Not a joke: there are Austen fans I know who practically lisped through Pride and Prejudice when aged about six, and took on Tolstoy himself by the time they were ten. These annoying geniuses had already learned to appreciate Persuasion before they shot off to Harvard...

The Grail: The Saving of Elizabeth Darcy Giveaways for February-March 2022

After devoting many years working on The Bennet Wardrobe series, Don Jacobson's imaginative and complex Pride and Prejudice time travelling tales has come to an end. From The Keeper: Mary Bennet's Extraordinary Journey to The Pilgrim: Lydia Bennet and a Soldier's Portion , the author has always taken the self-publishing route. Then Meryton Press came calling to purchase the publishing rights to his full-length novels. All seven books are re-edited and re-released once every month since last May under their banner but keeping the original beautiful covers. The series has completed its arc with the launch of the final story titled The Grail: The Saving of Elizabeth Darcy on Valentine's Day. Just like his previous releases, Don is currently on tour to some of the popular blogs in the Austenesque community. Be sure to drop by to get your fill of entertaining guest posts, charming excerpts and a character interview. His publisher is also generously sponsoring a total...

Threads of Magic Giveaways for January-February 2022

Monica Fairview is well known in the Jane Austen fan fiction circle as the author of numerous Pride and Prejudice variations ( Mr Darcy Seeks a Wife series, Mysterious Mr. Darcy , Fortune & Felicity and A Longbourn Entanglement ) and sequels ( The Other Mr. Darcy and The Darcy Cousins ). In between she tried her hand at writing a steampunk standalone novel ( Steampunk Darcy ) and last year's gaslamp fantasy release, Dangerous Magic . She has continued to pen its sequel called Threads of Magic and together they are part of the Mr. Darcy's Magic series. There are plans to publish more books so do anticipate their arrival. Picking up where the first book left off after Darcy has declared his love to Elizabeth, the couple still faces obstacles and challenges to defeat the French mages sent by Napolean. Although it is said in Dangerous Magic that their magic is compatible with each other, nothing can be further than the truth. In fact they are completely opposite in t...

Captive Hearts Giveaways for January-February 2022

There are hundreds if not thousands of published Austenesque literature that mainly focuses on Pride and Prejudice . Although it is advantageous and lucrative to concentrate on writing stories based on Jane Austen's most popular masterpiece, some authors do dabble in her other five novels. A good example is Kelly Miller ( Death Takes a Holiday at Pemberley , Mr. Darcy's Perfect Match , Accusing Mr. Darcy and A Consuming Love ) who officially launched her fifth book titled Captive Hearts with Meryton Press just last week. In this Persuasion variation which is a rare gem in a sea of Pride and Prejudice what-if releases, Captain Frederick Wentworth returns to shore for a visit to his sister's new home, Kellynch Hall after serving his country. His encounters and friendship with Mr and Mrs Darcy has left him questioning his broken engagement eight years ago from the point of view of his former fiancée. After deciding to seize this second opportunity to win Anne Elliott...
