Faults of Understanding Giveaways for April-June 2021

Author Jennifer Altman first appeared on the Austenesque publishing scene with her successful debut novel titled To Conquer Pride back in 2018. Since then she has joined Jane Austen Variations and written some memorable articles besides posting her work-in-progress on the site. Thus you might know that Faults of Understanding which is her second Pride and Prejudice what-if tale will be released soon.

Imagine if Elizabeth Bennet accepted Mr Darcy's hand in marriage not out of love nor obligation but a momentary lapse of judgement, how will she rectify this situation? A lady does not simply withdraw her promise after giving her consent without losing her reputation. And supposing her future husband found out how she really feels about him, what would be his reaction? How will they lead their lives in Pemberley knowing that one's spouse cannot bear the sight of the other? That is basically the premise of the story.

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story.
