Determination Giveaways for January 2021

Determination penned by C. P. Odom (A Most Civil Proposal, Consequences, Pride, Prejudice & Secrets, Perilous Siege and A Covenant of Marriage) has the distinction of becoming the first novel released by Meryton Press for the year. If you like Jane Bennet to partner someone other than Charles Bingley, you'll be delighted to hear that the author has chosen Colonel Fitzwilliam to ber her suitor. This is a very non canon pairing that is explored not often enough in the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. Indeed Jane deserves a beau who knows what he wants and is not swayed by what his family thinks of her.

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent.
