Be Your Own heroine Blog Tour: Spotlight

It's always exciting to hear that a new Austen-related book is published. What more when the author is someone well known in the Austenesque community. It is thus my privilege to feature Be Your Own heroine which is written by the sisterly duo of Sophie and Charlotte Andrews. As you know, Sophie is one of many active Jane Austen members who participate in balls, parties and festivals that celebrates the life and times of our well-loved author. Let's take a look at their just released work.

There are spirited young women such as Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice, and Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series; and then there are the survivors — July in The Long Song and Katniss Everdene in The Hunger Games trilogy. As well as these six inspirational characters, there are other examples of literary heroine who can guide you through life's pitfalls, and help you become the heroine of your own story.

Author Bios
Sophie and Charlotte Andrews are sisters who both love to lose themselves in books. Charlotte's passion for reading and writing began in her earliest years. She studied Latin American literature as part of her degree at Warwick University, but especially enjoys historical fiction. Younger sister Sophie appreciates many different genres — however her true love is for all things Jane Austen, an enthusiasm that was initially sparked by studying Pride and Prejudice at school. She started her blog, Laughing With Lizzie, in 2012, aged 16, and soon began to participate in Austen events and festivals around the country. As a founder member of the Jane Austen Pineapple Appreciation Society, she organises house parties, balls and picnics and starred in the 2017 BBC documentary "My Friend Jane". Her first book, Be More Jane, was published in 2019 by CICO Books. Sophie lives in Berkshire.

Have you heard of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries which debuted on the web a couple of months ago? I think you should check it out as it is a relatively new concept that has not been fully explored on any Jane Austen's novels. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman: Book Review

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent. After thinking over her reasons for refusing him, Darcy decides to take her reproves to heart and tries to correct the mistakes that he committed in his past although unintentional done.
