Dear Jane Giveaway for May 2019

It is understandable that Austenesque fiction published these days tend to be based on Pride and Prejudice as it is the most popular and profitable venture among Jane Austen's oeuvre. But there are some authors who have tried their hand in penning stories inspired by Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey. One such person is Allie Cresswell who recently released her third and final book in the Highbury trilogy. Expanding upon the world found in Emma, Dear Jane takes readers on a journey to learn more of the secondary pairing of Jane Fairfax and Frank Churchill. From childhood days through the fateful meeting in Weymouth, discover their off-stage romance that could rival George Knightley's love for Emma Woodhouse.

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent.
