Austenesque Book Giveaways for 11-17 January 2016

The Austenesque book scout is delighted to share news of the following Austenite giveaways for this week.

Austen Authors' Barbara Silkstone shares her observation of the men whom she has interviewed. Read her humourous take on the first proposal scene from Pride and Prejudice re-written with the men's trait in mind. On top of that, she is sponsoring an e-book of The Gallant Vicar and its upcoming sequel titled The Return of The Gallant Vicar. Just leave a comment on her post by midnight on Friday, 15 January 2016 to be entered in this international competition.

Claudine has reviewed Marsha Altman's The Darcys & the Bingleys on Just Jane 1813. She has also provided an excerpt from the novel in addition to a paperback copy of The Darcys & the Bingleys to be won. You need to comment on the excerpt to enter. This contest is open to all and closes at midnight ET on Monday, 25 January 2016.

Besides this Claudia is also revealing the book cover for Carolyn Whyte's upcoming new Pride and Prejudice variation called Darcy's Deliverance. Read the interview about the making of the cover because a copy of Darcy's Denial is up for grabs to a lucky person who comments there. The deadline to participate is next Saturday, 23 January 2016.

Have you heard of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries which debuted on the web a couple of months ago? I think you should check it out as it is a relatively new concept that has not been fully explored on any Jane Austen's novels. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman: Book Review

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent. After thinking over her reasons for refusing him, Darcy decides to take her reproves to heart and tries to correct the mistakes that he committed in his past although unintentional done.
