Austenesque Book Giveaways for 24-30 August 2015

The Austenesque book scout welcomes you to another round of Austen-themed competitions to start the week with.

Austen Authors' Barbara Silkstone is giving US readers the chance to win a pair of Lizzie Bennet's poodle slippers on her post. This special item is featured in her Mister Darcy comedic mystery series where excerpts from her books are also included. So leave a comment by midnight EDST on Saturday, 29 August 2015 to qualify.

Head over to Regina Jeffers's blog as she is celebrating the publication of her eight and final book in The Realm series titled A Touch of Emerald. There is an excerpt from the novel to be read and two e-books of A Touch of Emerald are offered. Just comment on the post before the contest closes at midnight EDST on Friday, 28 August 2015 to be counted.

Jan Hahn has stopped by More Agreeably Engaged to share her appreciation for readers. She is gifting the first four winners with the most correct answers to her quiz  winner's choice for a signed paperback copy of one of her books, a set of handmade guest soaps and a bookmark. On top of that the first person who answered all correctly will receive all the prizes plus a US$25 Amazon gift card. So correctly match the quotes on her post to her published books and write your answers in the comment section. The competition is open to worldwide readers until 11.59 pm on Monday, 31 August 2015.

P. O. Dixon is kindly contributing a Kindle edition of her upcoming Pride and Prejudice release on her Austen Authors' post. Come and read an excerpt from As Good as a Lord and be sure to leave a comment there to be entered. The deadline is next Tuesday, 1 September 2015.

Lastly, three advanced reader copies of Katherine Reay's upcoming novel titled The Brontë Plot are to be given away on Modern Mrs. Darcy. If you are living in US, just comment on the post. It ends at 11.59 pm EDT on Sunday, 30 August 2015.

Have you heard of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries which debuted on the web a couple of months ago? I think you should check it out as it is a relatively new concept that has not been fully explored on any Jane Austen's novels. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman: Book Review

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent. After thinking over her reasons for refusing him, Darcy decides to take her reproves to heart and tries to correct the mistakes that he committed in his past although unintentional done.
