Austenesque Book Giveaways for 23-29 June 2014

The Austenesque scout has found some treasures this week that she would love to share with her dear readers.

First up is Sophie Andrews's interview with debut author Joy Dawn King on Laughing With Lizzie. Read Joy's inspiration for penning her version of Caroline Bingley in A Father's Sin including a short excerpt featuring the character. You may want to enter the giveaway for a £50 gift card to use in Jane Austen Gift Shop by leaving a comment and email address. It is open worldwide and ends next Friday, 4 July 2014.

There is also a second interview on the same blog where Sophie has invited artist Masha Laurence to chat about her customised watercolour paintings and illustrations. Masha has also brought along three 5x7 prints to give to one lucky international winner. So leave a comment, email address and country of residence to be counted in the drawing. The deadline is on next Monday, 30 June 2014.

Victoria Kincaid has been invited to guest post on More Agreeably Engaged where she shared with readers her writing journey of The Secrets of Elizabeth and Darcy. Dark Jane Austen Book Club is reviewing and hosting a giveaway for Marrying Mr. Darcy: The Pride & Prejudice Card Game and the Undead Expansion pack courtesy of creator Erika Svanoe. Have you heard of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries which debuted on the web a couple of months ago? I think you should check it out as it is a relatively new concept that has not been fully explored on any Jane Austen's novels. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman: Book Review

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent. After thinking over her reasons for refusing him, Darcy decides to take her reproves to heart and tries to correct the mistakes that he committed in his past although unintentional done.
