Austenesque Book Giveaways for 4-10 February 2013

The Austenesque scout wishes to highlight some of book giveaways for this week.

Vic Sanborn is hosting a contest on Jane Austen's World for a copy of The Chronicles of Downton Abbey: A New Era sponsored by St Martin's Press, the US publisher of the book. If you are staying in US, you are eligible to enter the giveaway by leaving a comment sharing what you like or dislike about the fifth episode of Downton Abbey. It ends this Sunday, 10 February 2013 at midnight.

Indie Jane has posted an interview with author Pamela Aares where she talks about her novel Jane Austen & the Archangel. Fill up the Rafflecopter form for the chance to win your choice of a paperback copy or an e-book edition. This giveaway closes on Sunday, 10 February 2013.

Austenprose's Laurel Ann Nattress is previewing the upcoming release of Return to Longbourn, Shannon Winslow's sequel to The Darcys of Pemberley. Read an excerpt from the new novel and enter to win one of three copies of The Darcys of Pemberley on offer by mentioning what intrigues you about the letter from Tristan Collins or reading a Pride and Prejudice continuation in the comment section. The deadline for this giveaway is on Wednesday, 13 February 2013 at 11.59. US winners will receive the paperback copies while e-book edition are reserved for international winners.

Jeanna Ellsworth is contributing a guest post on Darcyholic Diversions for the blog's month-long celebration on Darcy. She is offering a copy of her self-published novel titled Mr. Darcy's Promise, which will be released in July, to one person who comments on her post.

Moira Bianchi is the guest author on Leatherbound Reviews where she shares her debut novel A Friendship of a Special Kind with Jakki's readers. Read Moira's guest post plus a short excerpt from the novel and then fill in the Rafflecopter form in order to win A Friendship of a Special Kind in e-book format. This international contest is open until next Friday, 15 February 2013.

Two copies of Nancy Kelley's Loving Miss Darcy are up for grabs on English Historical Fiction Authors this week. A print copy is reserved for the winner from US or Canada while an e-book edition is open to international readers. Be sure to comment on this post as your ticket to win the book.

Marilyn Brant has stopped by on My Jane Austen Book Club to introduce her latest Austenesque fiction, Pride, Prejudice and the Perfect Match. Read her guest post and an excerpt from the novel. Have you heard of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries which debuted on the web a couple of months ago? I think you should check it out as it is a relatively new concept that has not been fully explored on any Jane Austen's novels. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman: Book Review

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent. After thinking over her reasons for refusing him, Darcy decides to take her reproves to heart and tries to correct the mistakes that he committed in his past although unintentional done.
