Austenesque Book Giveaways for 26 March-1 April 2012

The Austenesque scout has some news to impart for her readers who are interested to enter some giveaways to obtain free reading copies of Austen-inspired novels.

P O Dixon's He Taught Me to Hope has receive a favourable review from Jakki Leatherberry on Mary Lydon Simonsen's blog. There is a giveaway for one paperback copy of the book title to US reader while one international participant will receive an e-book copy. The rule is to leave a comment on Jakki's review with your valid email address by Sunday, 1 April 2012.

Meredith who post her book reviews on Austenesque Reviews has given an excellent review on Given Good Principles, Vol. 1: Darcy's Decision written by Maria Grace. After reading the review and you feel that you would like to read the book, here's your chance. Leave a comment on Meredith's review here to enter the giveaway which ends next Thursday, 5 April 2012. A paperback copy of the book is open to US readers while international readers will play for an e-book version.

Mary Lydon Simonsen's parody of Persuasion in e-book version, Anne Elliot, A New Beginning, is chosen as one of the prizes offered at The League of British Artists as the April giveaway. Take a look at the other prizes here and leave a comment with the book title and format, the author's name and most importantly your email address to enter. The deadline is next Thursday, 5 April 2012 at 11.59 pm PST.

Have you heard of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries which debuted on the web a couple of months ago? I think you should check it out as it is a relatively new concept that has not been fully explored on any Jane Austen's novels. Austenesque Book Giveaways for 14-20 March 2011

Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman: Book Review

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent. After thinking over her reasons for refusing him, Darcy decides to take her reproves to heart and tries to correct the mistakes that he committed in his past although unintentional done.
