Austenesque Book Giveaways for 2-8 January 2012

The Austenesque scout would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and share some fabulous news regarding this week's book giveaways with her readers.

Austenesque Review has a giveaway for two e-books of To Have His Cake (and Eat It Too) courtesy P. O. Dixon who is the author of the book. You can read Meredith's wonderful review to know whether this novel is for you. If it is, leave a comment here to be in the running to win it. This worldwide contest ends next Thursday, 12 January 2012.

Maria Grazia has posted a guest post by new Austenesque writer, Alyssa Goodnight on her Jane Austen dedicated blog My Jane Austen Book Club. For your information, Alyssa's new novel titled Austentatious will be released at the end of the month. Read her post on her favourite Jane Austen quotes and then share yours if you would like to enter the international giveaway to win an autographed copy of Austentatious. Contest closes on Tuesday, 31 January 2012 so you have plenty of time to leave your comment and email address here.

There is another author guest post over at Maria's Fly High! blog. The author this time is Charlotte Frost who has written an informative post on Sir William Knighton, a physician and courtier in the Regency era. There is a paperback copy of Sir William Knighton: The Strange Career of a Regency Physician to be won for UK residents and two e-book editions for worldwide readers generously donated by Charlotte if you leave a comment, email address and the country of residence on her post by next Saturday, 14 January 2012.

There are three copies of A Jane Austen Devotional available for residents of US and Canada in a contest hosted at Austenprose and courtesy of the publisher Thomas Nelson. I think you should check it out as it is a relatively new concept that has not been fully explored on any Jane Austen's novels. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman: Book Review

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent. After thinking over her reasons for refusing him, Darcy decides to take her reproves to heart and tries to correct the mistakes that he committed in his past although unintentional done.
