Fitzwilliam Darcy, Rock Star Giveaways for September 2011

After taking a long break for summer vacations, autumn is upon us again and with that, publishers have released new Austenesque novels for us Janeites to savour. As highlighted on my post in April, there are five new Austen-themed titles for this month alone. The first book to be released on the first of this month is Fitzwilliam Darcy, Rock Star.

Penned by newcomer Heather Lynn Rigaud who also blogs on Austen Authors, this is a modern adaptation of Jane Austen's most popular oeuvre Pride and Prejudice and set in the world of rock 'n' roll. If you wonder what the author's inspiration are for choosing this particular environment, do join her as she virtually visit some book blogs to promote her debut work. You could even read Fitzwilliam Darcy, Rock Star for free if you are the chosen few who leave your comments on the blogs. Since the copies of her books are sponsored by Sourcebooks publisher, please take note of the terms and conditions before participating because some of the giveaways are only open to US and Canadian readers.

    That was me. I'm still having trouble with my internet following Hurricane Irene. We were out of power for 3 days and it will be another week before my phone and internet are back. So, trying to comment on my phone, I wasn't able to log in. Sorry.

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries

Have you heard of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries which debuted on the web a couple of months ago? I think you should check it out as it is a relatively new concept that has not been fully explored on any Jane Austen's novels. Austenesque Book Giveaways for 14-20 March 2011

Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman: Book Review

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent. After thinking over her reasons for refusing him, Darcy decides to take her reproves to heart and tries to correct the mistakes that he committed in his past although unintentional done.
