Austenesque Book Giveaways for 5-11 September 2011

The Austenesque scout is delighted to present great news regarding four book giveaways quoted from the Austenite blogosphere this week.

Vic Sanborn, blogger mistress of Jane Austen's World is hosting a giveaway for a copy of Murder Most Persuasive, the third Austen mystery novel by Tracy Kiely. If you enjoy Vic's review and would like to have a chance to own this book for free, enter this giveaway by leaving a comment here mentioning which Jane Austen character you would like to see murdered and your reasons behind it. This contest closes this Saturday, 10 September 2011 at midnight PT.

MaNiC MoMMy is organising Fall Fab Book Giveaway where you can win each book or the Grand Prize of all 25 on offer until it ends so please read the details here. The first book has been revealed and it is Definitely Not Mr. Darcy by Karen Doornebos. In order to win this Austenesque novel, comment at this post by mentioning your chivalrous guy. The comments will close within 3-5 days so for this particular giveaway, do comment by Friday, 9 September 2011 just to be safe. Do note that shipment is only to US and Canada addresses.

Over at My Jane Austen Book Club, Maria Grazia has interviewed Patrice Sarath, the author of The Unexpected Miss Bennet in her Talking Jane Austen With... weekly post. Fly High!'s Maria Grazia has conducted an interview with Sir Finnian, the protagonist of Prue Batten's A Thousand Glass Flowers at her post.     I'd love to read her book. I believe I'd have to be a chaperone if I were on the program. I'm way too old to be a contestant and my back is too broke to be a servant.

I think you should check it out as it is a relatively new concept that has not been fully explored on any Jane Austen's novels. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman: Book Review

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent. After thinking over her reasons for refusing him, Darcy decides to take her reproves to heart and tries to correct the mistakes that he committed in his past although unintentional done.
