Austenesque Book Giveaways for 18-24 July 2011

The Austenesque scout would like to impart some wonderful news on a bunch of book giveaways for this week.

Jane Odiwe, author of three Austen sequels, is offering a copy of Mr. Darcy's Secret to readers at her blog. If you are interested to know the plot, do read an excerpt of the novel here. If it is to your liking and you wish to enter this contest, either leave a comment at this post or send one to her here mentioning what you would like to read about next in an Austen-inspired novel. The winner will be announced next Monday, 25 July 2011 so you have a week to enter before it ends.

The next title is not really a giveaway but is a free e-book of Out of Fear available on Smashwords until the end of this month. If you have not sign-up, please do as registration is straightforward. Smashwords has one of the most widely available e-book formats compared to others sites like Amazon which is using Kindle and Barnes & Noble's Nook. Meredith Esparza is hosting five books giveaway for her gently read advanced review copies (ARC) at her blog, Austenesque Reviews since she usually buys the official released copies to keep. The titles are Dracula, My Love by Syrie James, The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott by Kelly O'Connor McNees, Mr. Darcy's Secret by Jane Odiwe, Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman by Maria Hamilton and A Darcy Christmas, a 3-story anthology of the Yuletide season with Mr. Darcy contributed by Amanda Grange, Sharon Lathan and Carolyn Eberhart.

This giveaway is open worldwide and to enter, just comment here with the title(s) that you are interested in winning. Deadline is next Monday, 25 July 2011 so hurry and take your pick.

Patrice Sarath is anticipating her book release next week and has kindly offered to a copy of her book, The Unexpected Miss Bennet at her blog. Just answer this question in the comment section here: "Which of Jane Austen’s secondary characters should have their own book?". She will randomly choose the winner and it will be known on Monday, 1 August 2011.

Lastly, Jennifer Becton is donating two copies of her debut novel Charlotte Collins to readers of Indie Jane community. An e-book version is up for grabs for US and international participants and a signed paperback copy for US readers only. Do read this post for instructions on how to enter this contest. Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story.
