Austenesque Book Giveaways for 21-27 March 2011

The Austenesque scout is delighted to tell her readers of five giveaways that you may be interested.

Margaret C. Sullivan, the author of The Jane Austen Handbook: Proper Life Skills for Regency England and Editrix of AustenBlog is featured as a guest blog on Austenprose. There is a giveaway for three copies of her etiquette book for Regency times at the end of the post. To win, leave your comment stating which proper Regency life skills you think one of Jane Austen's erring characters might have benefited from or guess what the C. in Margaret's name stands for. Please note that contest is open to US and Canadian residents only and it ends at midnight PT on Wednesday, 30 March 2011. Winners will be announced the next day.

Jane Austen Today managed by Vic Sanborn, is also having a giveaway of the same prize as above. Just leave a comment here with your question about Regency era or Jane Austen's life to win a copy of the delightful reference guide. Contest ends a week from now which is next Thursday, 31 March 2011.

Thanks to Mary Simonsen's post at her blog, there is a contest to win a copy of Regina Jeffers' latest novel, The Scandal of Lady Eleanor. Laurel Ann Nattress of Austenprose is hosting a tremendous giveaway of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies goodies courtesy of Quirk Books in celebration of the launch of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dreadfully Ever After, a sequel to the international best-seller, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.     Actually the reason why I state all giveaways that I find on the blogosphere especially books which I love is to keep track on what prizes, when and who offered it so that I can spread the love of Jane Austen around though sometimes it diminish my chances of winning.

I think you should check it out as it is a relatively new concept that has not been fully explored on any Jane Austen's novels. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman: Book Review

Rating: ★★★★★/★★★★★ After enduring a not very likeable Austenesque fiction in Karen V. Wasylowski's Darcy and Fitzwilliam which was reviewed several months ago, I was a little wary of reading any Austen-themed novels which caught my fancy because of its beautifully designed covers. After my colleague recommend me to try Maria Hamilton's debut novel, I made up my mind to read it next. It proved to be a wise choice for I spend many hours perusing this delightful Pride and Prejudice what-if story. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman begins after Fitzwilliam Darcy's disastrous marriage proposal to Elizabeth Bennet in Hunsford Parsonage, Kent. After thinking over her reasons for refusing him, Darcy decides to take her reproves to heart and tries to correct the mistakes that he committed in his past although unintentional done.
