This Wednesday, 29 September 2010 marks the bi-centenary birthday of mid-Victorian novelist, Mrs. Elizabeth Cleghorn Gaskell. Laurel Ann Nattress, mistress of Austenprose is organizing a blog tour with 12 other fellow Gaskell enthusiasts to celebrate this joyous occasion.
There will be a giveaway to one lucky reader who comment on any one of the 13 blogs that will be participating. The prize is a Naxos Audiobook of North and South unabridged edition read by Clare Wille. The list of participants and their contributions to this event are available here. Contest ends next Tuesday, 7 October 2010 at 12 midnight PT and is open to readers from US and Canada. International winner will receive a digital download. According to Austen Authors post, Marilyn Brant launched her second novel, Friday Mornings at Nine (non-Austen related) on 28 September 2010 and to celebrate this joyous occasion, her publisher, Kensington Books is giving away her debut Austenesque novel, According to Jane as free e-book download for a limited time only. It begins from 29 September until 2 October and it works in Kindle, Apple, Nook, Sony, Kobo and Diesel. So hurry if you do not want to miss this opportunity.
Lastly, Maria Grazia is featuring an interview with Abigail Reynolds in her Jane Austen dedicated blog, My Jane Austen Book Club. Ms Reynolds is the author of six Pride & Prejudice variations and one modern novel, The Man Who Loved Pride & Prejudice. Her latest novel entitled Mr. Darcy's Obsession will be released in October and so she kick-start her book blog tour at Talking Jane Austen with Abigail Reynolds & Giveaway. At the end of the interview, there is a giveaway open to US and Canada residents only as the publisher, Sourcebooks will directly mail a copy of Mr. Darcy's Obsession to the winner.
